1Panel currently has no built-in mail server support. Users who need email hosting alongside their websites must
configure mail servers manually or use external services. This is the #1 missing feature for hosting providers.

Proposed Solution

Integrate Postfix (SMTP) + Dovecot (IMAP/POP3) as a Docker-based mail stack with panel UI integration.

UI Features

• Mail domains (add/remove)
• Mail accounts (create, delete, change password, set quota)
• Aliases and forwarding rules
• DKIM/SPF/DMARC auto-configuration
• Spam filtering (Rspamd)
• Webmail integration (Roundcube or SOGo)

API Endpoints

• POST /api/v1/mail/domains - add mail domain
• POST /api/v1/mail/accounts - create account
• PUT /api/v1/mail/accounts/:id/password - change password
• DELETE /api/v1/mail/accounts/:id - delete account
• GET /api/v1/mail/accounts - list accounts with quota usage

Implementation Idea

Package the mail stack (Postfix + Dovecot + Rspamd + Roundcube) as a 1Panel App Store application with deep UI
integration, similar to how databases are currently managed.

Why This Matters

All competitors (HestiaCP, cPanel, Plesk, ISPConfig) include mail management. Most hosting clients expect at least one
email (info@domain.com) with their hosting plan. Without this, hosting providers cannot fully adopt 1Panel.

Implementation

Uses docker-mailserver (Postfix + Dovecot + Rspamd + OpenDKIM + Fail2Ban) + Roundcube webmail, deployed as Docker containers.

Backend (Go):

• agent/app/model/mail.go - MailDomain, MailAccount, MailAlias models
• agent/utils/mail/container.go - Docker container lifecycle (mailserver + roundcube on shared network)
• agent/utils/mail/exec.go - Docker exec wrappers for setup CLI commands
• agent/app/service/mail.go - Full CRUD + DNS integration (auto MX/SPF/DKIM/DMARC)
• 12 API endpoints under /api/v2/mail/

Frontend (Vue 3):

• Domain list with one-click mail stack deployment
• Tabbed domain detail: Accounts | Aliases | DNS Config
• Account management (create, password, quota)
• Alias/forwarding management
• DKIM/SPF/DMARC display with copy buttons

DNS Integration:
When adding a mail domain with auto-DNS enabled, automatically creates MX, SPF (TXT), DKIM (TXT), and DMARC (TXT) records via the DNS zone management feature.
