Can't make vertical slabs and vertical slabs can't stack

The forge modpage says "Simply hold sneak when holding a regular slab to place a vertical version! This also works with combining two vertical slabs including vertical slabs from Quark, just ensure you are not holding sneak to combine!" However, when I tried placing down a vertical slab with Sneak, it just placed down a regular slab, and when I tried stacking vertical slabs from Quark, it didn't work.

I also have this issue, i also can't give myself a vertical slab in 1.21.1

In the 1.21.1 version, vertical slabs are a separate item crafted by putting a slab on its own into a crafting table. (The mod page does mention that the sneak thing doesn't work on 1.21.1, but that may have been added after this issue was made.)

Im playing on 1.20.1 forge and it also doesn't let me

@CJMinecraft01 can we do anything to help troubleshoot this? It's not working for me either (1.20.1, forge). Ideally I'd just use Quarks vertical slabs and combine them but no dice.

@throckmorpheus is right - in the 1.20+ versions, you must craft a vertical slab to use it. Unfortunately in those versions, support for other mods' vertical slabs like Quark is not available but is something I plan on adding when I get the chance.

this is going to sound dumb but how do I craft a vertical slab without mods like Quark?

You can convert from a regular half slab to a vertical slab by just placing the slab in a crafting table or in your inventory crafting. It's one horizontal -> one vertical.

im on forge 1.20.1 and this also doesent work for me??? i tried putting it into a crafting table (as said with the instructions) and it doesent turn into anything???

am also on 1.20.1. made an instance with no other mods installed but Double Slabs, on forge. crouch does not toggle, placing item in crafting table does not seem to have a recipe. when i search JEI, the only thing that appears is a copper slab, but when i open the Double Slabs tab in creative mode, i can see all of the vertical slabs there. so i know they're there, but there doesn't seem to be a recipe.
