unexpected supercomplete request for new supercomplete model

Updated PhpStorm today to 2025.3.1.1, Windsurf plugin is 2.10.7, and autocomplete is no longer working. The idea.log file is full of messages like this:

I'm not sure if anybody is reading this, but just in case you are, be aware that this error comes and goes unpredictably.

Autocomplete was working fine for me last week, but today (Feb 2) it stopped working without explanation. I tried restarting PhpStorm a few times, and nothing changed. I tried downloading and installing the previous version 2.12.2 from here but that didn't help. PhpStorm then automatically upgraded it to 2.12.5, so I restarted and now all of a sudden it's working again.

This is with PhpStorm 2025.3.2 and Windsurf 2.12.5.

I have the same issue on macOs:
IntelliJ IDEA 2025.3.2
Windsurf plugin 2.12.5
MacOS 26.2

For me clearing idea cache sometime helps (file -> invalidate cache )...

I have also installed the Windsurf editor 1.9544.35

It's March 2026 and this is still a problem.

Usually when this error occurs I would restart PhpStorm until it magically fixes itself. But lately it just refuses to work, even after restarting multiple times.

Using PhpStorm 2025.3.3 and Windsurf Plugin 2.12.13 on Ubuntu.

The error is:
