A special plugin for Firebird that helps restore databases with missing user modules.

Hello all.
This addresses #7168 and #7716, and potentially related issues.

I’ve developed a plugin that mitigates these problems by masquerading as any External Engine. You can find the repository here: null_engine.

I propose building this null_engine for every supported architecture (with community help) and publishing the precompiled binaries in the downloads section of firebirdsql.org to assist DBAs.

Following the logic of #7168—which currently only handles UDR modules—I’d also like to suggest an improvement request: implementing this same behavior for any external engine encountered during a database restore.

Finally, I feel like duplicating this post to firebird-devel is unnecessary, or is it?
