Cannot invoke "String.startsWith(String)" because "lastLine" is null

Running Bdd2Octane plugin to push test results is give the following error :

[ERROR] Failed to execute goal com.microfocus.adm.almoctane.bdd:bdd2octane:1.1.7:run (default-cli) on project {project name}: Execution default-cli of goal com.microfocus.adm.almoctane.bdd:bdd2octane:1.1.7:run failed: Cannot invoke "String.startsWith(String)" because "lastLine" is null -> [Help 1]

Can you please help with what might cause this issue ?

one this I observed is that the cucumber-jvm-result.xml file do not have tag not closed compared to the reports that went through .

Can you please share more details on your execution, like the input files that you are execution , feature file and test result xml file.
Can please also share the log of the bdd2Octane exection?

@nissimshitrit thanks for your response . We figured out what is going wrong it is the problem with cucumber-java version . we are using 7.15.0 and facing this issue . I feel it is a limitation . Do you have a view on when the versions higher than 7.0.0 will be supported by bdd2octane ?

yes it might be the causing of this error.
I'm not familiar with future plan to extend the support on higher version of cucumber. it need to open ticket on for this on our support.
