Just starting with dex.js, I tried the example https://bl.ocks.org/PatMartin/0fccfddf5277e01cd5024d963f0caa70, which worked fine.
I then replaced the presidential data with

The chart crashed, DevTools show

I did some try-and-fail tests and it looks like the data must be alphanumeric? For instance bare numbers ("45") are rejected when the data are only numbers, while numbers with an underscore are fine ("45_")
