Re-implement setting removal on removal from modeline

Kay-Uwe (Kiwi) had implemented the removal of a setting from the view when the setting is removed from the modeline. During my rewrite, I did not re-implement this feature. I’d be great to have it back!

(Note: This issue is mainly a reminder for myself, but if someone wants to take it they are welcome to do so! Just wait until my rewrite is merged, the issue does not make sense until then.)
