New release?

I noticed smpeg(2) hasn't got a release in a while and distros are starting to amass various patches, hopefully all of them upstreamed, but usually this is a pretty bad sign.
(For my own machines I went with using the git repo)

Could there be a new release?

smpeg hasn't gotten a lot of attention in many years...but I'm not against collecting up distro patches and calling it a new release.
