Steps to Reproduce

Execute gradlew tasks with latest gradle version (I use the build of main of this week)

If I understand correctly, this error occurs with a non-released Gradle version? I tried it with the latest Gradle release 9.3.1 and it works -- at least the integration tests succeed. I don't have the time to build Gradle myself. Can you point me to a alpha or beta build that shows this error?

Thanks! I enabled Gradle flags --configuration-cache --build-cache for the integration tests in #64, to be sure these Gradle features are also tested, the error message seems to be related to the config cache.
You closed this issue, so I assume it's not urgent.
I tried it with your Gradle distribution and all tests still succeed. I guess a more complex test project is required to reproduce the issue.

Still happens, but I don't call tasks that often.
