Although the package is on CRAN and was downloaded 7K times in the last month (as of 23 oct 2025) , it is no longer maintained (this was confirmed to me by the author per e-mail) and is currently not working properly on recent R versions such as R 4.5.1.
I have asked the author if he is open to transferring maintenance, or archiving the package from CRAN.
I have not received a response yet.
Leaving this here for others, it took me a while to figure out the status of this package.
