XKBD fails to initialize after update

I have just updated Linux Mint 21.3 to Linus Kernel 5.15.0-174. I am running Cinnamon v6.0.4 and MintUpdate 6.0.9

On the first reboot of the updated system an error message window appears saying that XKBD has failed to initialize properly. The message asks that I include the following command outputs when reporting this problem:

This error window appears again on subsequent reboots immediately after I log in. In general, the keyboard seems to be working properly; I am using it now. The output from gsettings appear to be garbled, but I do not know gnome internals.
I would not expect to see this message if the system was working properly; I have never seen it before.
