Timer fires off late. (Auto restart)

Thank you for an extremely useful app. Your efforts are really appreciated.

I have set the schedule to restart my phone at precisely 23:25 every day. However, the timer fires off quite late. Atleast 25-30 mins late. I cannot figure out why.

Steps taken to fix:

• App is excluded from battery optimization.
• Persistent notification is on.
• Set schedule for every other day instead of every day.
• In phone settings ➡ Battery ➡ Manage background apps, I have added the app to Always allow.
• Clear data.
• Uninstall/reinstall

Device Details:

• Device: Motorola Edge 40 Neo
• Version: Android 15
• No custom OS or Root

This error is quite strange, as I already required the EXACT_ALARM permission in the manifest. It may be some strange properties of Android 15. Can you check whether there is some sort of permission missing? Somewhere like Settings -> Apps -> Special app access -> Alarms & reminders

As directed, I checked the Special App access. However, your app does not show up in the list.
No other permission has been denied and only Notification has been given permission.

Further, the timing is also quite inconsistent, as on some days the power dialog shows mere minutes later, as in 23:28 or 23:29 and then there are days it shows up quite late.

Quick question. Do you think this has to do something with Adaptive Battery feature? I don't know whether this a feature of android 15 or exclusive to Motorola phones.

At this point it could be some kind of battery optimization thing. Frankly I don't really know how to proceed, I'll start by trying to reproduce the bug on my device and I'll let you know in a few days!

Hello again @CtrlZulu, I've ran a few tests on my devices, and I had no problem with any delays, but I also have older versions of Android. Have you tried by disabling that strange optimization?

Yes, I did disable the "Adaptive Battery" optimization feature and the delay was greatly reduced but not eliminated completely. Twice it fired on the exact set time but that was that.
Unfortunately, I also realized turning that feature off reduced my phone's standby hours. I could barely use my phone for 5 hours before I had to charge again.
With it on, I easily get 8-9 hrs of standby time.

Could anything else be done? Like raising the process priority or something? The way we do it in Windows?

I also would like to inform you that the persistent notification sits in Silent Notification category of the notification shade. And removing it from there did not have much effect.
Please advise further.

Sadly I cannot find a way to increase priority, it would make sense, but I cannot find it. I can try with something like setExactAndAllowWhileIdle and setAlarmClock. Would you like me to try and add you to some beta testing channel? Or even pass you directly the APK
