Can't figure out exactly what causes it.
It does seem like this causes the current cursor line to be indented:
This manifests in weird ways when e.g. the selection contains 0 characters on a line, like this one.
Cursor is at top. Selection stated at bottom (red line) and went up.

I have also seen an instance where it indented the line above the selection, and I cannot figure out how to get it into that state.
