A user is very clearly breaking the Codes of Conduct.

I've… taken note of the user LorenzCoder in just the past week that he has contributed to this repo. While I myself am probably not a perfect adherent of the Code of Conduct, that guy comes across to me as breaking the code quite a bit. His strategy seems to be "Be convinced that he is the only person able to try to handle all package/update requests solo as they occur; and if he finds himself unable to do it, he usually trashtalks the OPs instead of simply skipping the threads and waiting for anyone else to potentially try."

Surely that can't be okay according to Codes of Conduct? He certainly doesn't seem to assume good faith in anyone. He's certainly scaring away me fast, and is most likely terrifying any newcomers to the repo. I myself was a newcomer back in May 2025, and if he had been the one who commented on threads back then I'd have run away from this repo.

Any views on it?

Also, it's getting wild enough that I'm @-ing @denelon about this, since the user seems to have gone out of control today and is beginning to feel pretty urgent to me.

Actually, the more I read it, the more obvious it really looks like an AI generated response that specifically prompted as a negative personality, this one is the most apparent (which you might already noticed from that irony he said, which is really missing the context on how labels are assigned):

It also always has the same pattern of response, AI chatbots really like list-based format, with his example:

I'm inclined to think he's a human. After all, I've seen tech users out there (though they were almost always more into Linux than Windows) that were magnitudes wilder. And humans are on-average known to drink lots of coffee, which he also mentioned at times. Also, I at least think that assuming good faith means it's better to assume someone is a human instead of an Aİ (I'm not an expert on assuming good faith, so don't take my word for it).

I didn't say his account was completely run by bot though, I think he just used AI to make those responses and of course the response idea is maybe still coming from him as a human.

This isn't the first user who has used automation to create an abundance of low-quality comments or PRs. But it seems to be occurring more often now than before. What would be a better way of handling this situation?

I suspect we'll need to politely inform users about our code of conduct and ask them to keep the focus on the quality of engagement with others. I'd rather not end up having to block/ban users unless it really becomes a problem, and they aren't willing to address our concerns. We're all learning right now, and with great power comes great responsibility.

First thing that comes to my mind is "More admins/mods at disposal when it's needed to contact admins/mods for urgent or felt-to-be-urgent matters".

Realistically, though, it was only 4 hours from your first post until @stephengillie responded. In my opinion, thats a pretty good response time for a repository this large, especially given that this was posted as a discussion and has to filter through Github notifications and emails which are, as @denelon noted, slow.

There is also the gitter / matrix room which many of the moderators are in that likely would have resulted in an even faster response. I'd encourage you to join the community there also.

Ultimately, this isn’t a unique problem. As others noted, we've had similar situations before; while unfortunate it does happen. I, for one, appreciate that it was dealt with quickly and professionally, though even had it gone on longer - at the end of the day it's just posts that can be hidden or removed by MSFT later. So while the speed is appreciated, future occurrences are nothing to be desperate over - everything will be worked through in time
