Question: delete container

Hello.

Is it possible to stop and delete container using ssh2incus instead of manually executing incus commands please? Is it even technically possible? For example something like this would be very useful:

ssh -p 2222 -instance~host-user@incus-host

@eriktelepovsky, there's 2 options currently:

• you can create an ephemeral instance using ~ like ssh -p 2222 ~instance~host-user@incus-host and when you are done you can run poweroff command inside the instance. that will stop and delete the instance.
• another option is to log into incus shell via ssh2incus and execute a force delete command:
  • ssh -p 2222 /shell@incus-host (it uses root only for auth)
  • type delete -f instance-name

will that work? or should we consider adding another option? ))

I was thinking about ephemeral instance, but in case of incus-host reboot, the instance would be lost as well, right? I would like to avoid that. Correct me, if I am wrong.

The option with /shell works, but I need to make it without user input for CI. I ended up with this:

ssh -p 22 user@incus-host "incus delete -f instance-name"

yes, that's right, ephemeral instances are deleted as soon as they are stopped.
good point about CI! we can definitely come up with a solution for that because it makes sense.

Version 0.10 has new command which allows deleting an instance:

• Remove instance with confirmation:

  ssh -p 2222 /rm/test01.default@1.2.3.4
  # or
  ssh -p 2222 /remove/test01.default@1.2.3.4
  

• Force remove without confirmation:

  ssh -p 2222 /rm-f/test01.default@1.2.3.4
  # or
  ssh -p 2222 /remove-force/test01.default@1.2.3.4
