I’m writing because MuseScore (both the stable version 4.6.5 and the latest nightly build) crashes immediately on my Mac as soon as it tries to open the main window.
Here are my system details:
• Mac model: MacBook Pro 14-inch (Nov 2024)
• Chip: Apple M4
• Memory: 16 GB
• macOS version: macOS Tahoe 26.4
• Startup disk: Macintosh HD
What happens (this text was written by Copilot after doing several steps it suggested to try to fix the problem):
MuseScore starts loading normally (audio engine, fonts, QML, MuseSampler, etc.), but it crashes with a “Segmentation fault: 11” right after the line:
GuiApp::perform | Using graphics api: "metal"
The crash happens whether I launch it normally, from Terminal, with OpenGL, or with software rendering.
Versions tested:
• MuseScore 4.6.5 (stable)
• Latest 4.7 nightly build (from the official nightly server)
Troubleshooting already attempted:
• Reinstalled Rosetta
• Launched MuseScore with OpenGL (-platform cocoa:renderer=opengl)
• Launched with software rendering (QT_QUICK_BACKEND=software)
• Reset extended attributes (xattr -cr)
• Granted all permissions (Full Disk Access, Accessibility, Screen Recording, Automation, Files & Folders)
• Deleted all SMuFL custom fonts
• Deleted the entire SMuFL folder
• Tried launching from Applications and directly from the .dmg
• Tried the nightly build (same crash)
Log excerpt:
The crash always ends with:
Segmentation fault: 11
I would really appreciate your help, as the application never manages to open the main window. Please let me know if you need the full log file or any additional system information.
Thank you very much for your time and support.
