Apparently the author of the dockerised version of openvoice feels the reason I only ever get outputs in the reference voice is there's no bug in his docker version and the problem is inherited from the original.

The problem is I record my voice. Replace the reference recording in the hmi with my voice. I run the transform, my voice turns up post processing as the "reference" voice but the tts output post transform remains as the original default voice.

This issue is likely related to how OpenVoice's two-stage pipeline works, and there are a few things to check:

Quick Troubleshooting:

1. Delete the processed folder - This is a common fix. If you reuse the same reference audio filename, old cached embeddings may be used instead of your new recording.

2. Verify the tone color converter is actually being called - OpenVoice has two stages: first TTS generates speech (which always sounds like the base speaker), then the tone color converter transforms it. If only the TTS step runs, you'll always hear the default voice.

3. Check your reference audio format:

   • Mono WAV at 22.05 kHz
   • Clean audio without background noise
   • At least 3-5 seconds of voiced content
   • Single speaker only

Important Limitation: OpenVoice only clones tone color (timbre), not accent or emotion. The accent and speech patterns come from the base speaker TTS model. So if your output sounds like the default voice's accent/emotion but with your timbre, that's actually expected behavior.

Worth noting: There's a similar unresolved issue (#432) where cross-speaker voice conversion produced incorrect output despite extensive troubleshooting. If the above steps don't help, it may be a deeper issue with the conversion pipeline.
