Does Not Work in IE9

Shortcode.js does not work on IE9. I thought perhaps it was my code/implementation but even the demo you have on your own website does not work in IE9.

The error I'm receiving in IE9 is:
SCRIPT5007: Unable to get value of the property 'scTag': object is null or undefined

Any chance on getting a fix?

Ahh yeah dataset isn't supported in IE <11 unfortunately. You should be able to add a polyfill for that though: https://github.com/Modernizr/Modernizr/wiki/HTML5-Cross-Browser-Polyfills#dataset-property-for-use-with-custom-data--attributes

Hmm, seems like an interesting option but I am not 100% sure I understand your recommendation. If i understand correctly, I should conditionally load a JS dataset shim if IE <11?

Conditional loading is up to you. The polyfill shouldn't conflict where the native feature where it's actually supported, so you should be fine either way.

Even using the polyfill I cannot get this to work. It doesn't break anymore but it still doesn't work. Things seem to fall apart at line 100 of your JS file. Even with polyfills.

At line 100 in IE9:
node.dataset.scTag == "<span class="sc-node sc-node-infobox" data-sc-tag="

At line 100 in modern browser:
node.dataset.scTag == "[infobox type="image"][/infobox]"

in both cases match.tag has the correct value.
