Emacs cask install fails

I installed Emacs GUI app on a new M1 Macbook Air using the following command:

brew install --cask emacs

No warnings or error appeared, but when I call emacs from the terminal, it shows the following error message:

Fatal error 5: Trace/breakpoint trap
zsh: abort emacs

Doing a normal installation (without --cask) works fine.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

The emacs cask conflicts with the emacs formula. Are you trying to install both or just one?

If it's the latter, what is the output of brew doctor and brew config?

I just uninstalled Homebrew and did everything again from scratch. Same thing happened when installing emacs.

An additional piece of info: I noticed that the .emacs.d folder is empty.

I fixed the link to emacs-plus@28 and the previous error (that I had with cask emacs) reappeared:

Tried installing emacs GUI on my MacBook pro m1. Terminal emacs install is fine but GUI install is not working.
