The compose key exists; it would be really nice to have a GUI for it so you can also know which characters you can compose without trial and error or reading the lists. |

If you are unaware, OP, you can go into the keyboard options and make one of your keys the "compose" key. Then, when you want to type an accent you hit compose, then the letter, then the symbol you would use to modify the letter to create the accent mark. E.G. compose --> a --> ' = á |

Nice toy! Since we're in 2026, I'd expect more polish of this kind. Via terminal you can do much more, but most commands don't have a graphical user interface. One thing that ALL software do wrong: Man entries are a good example, but generally don't explain anything Well, if applications would ship help pages structured in keywords and minimalistic explanation how to archive things (without going into sentences) then interested users would be more motivated do research and learn how to use tools. |

Windows has a PowerToy Called Quick Accent that pops up an inline window for choosing variations of a letter
