Let's make a Project page for the building import.

Towards full coverage of buildings in Belgium

Lots of manual work, but also re-using the work of our regional governements

Brussels

• Early import
• How is it maintained?

Flanders

• Download GRB + Also using addresses from CRAB > 2-in-1!
• Magic by @gplv2: fix overnoding, form "generic building" to a guesstimate of building type, publishing on tool for use with OSM software JOSM
• Slow community process, by design! (evolution graph, call for help)
• Sometimes project based, example Tongeren (also show "collateral fixes)
• Challenge not just adding buildings, but also keeping them up to date > using external references

Wallonia

Now included in tool, add main process description
Invite main building contributors in Wallonia to talk about their process

Brussels is challenging :

• ref:Urbis is present (which is good) but the version of the building is missing, which would enable us to pick up updates. GRBTool would be able to compare ref:Urbis in OSM to Urbis database.
• Using a lot of AssociatedStreet relations, we need some consensus on what we'll have to do with those, personally I don't like them, they are maintenance heavy and are often incomplete . I prefer to have the streetname on the buildings.
• Even a small extract from Brussels is a ton of work to migrate and get the source:geometry:* keys on it in order to track progress and backreference. The version is crucial here too, too bad that the initial import didn't account for that or this would have been a lot easier.
