In particular, this now fails when trying to document the crate (it was already failing when doing a cargo check).

How well does docs.rs handle this? E.g. when building the cgl, crate, it will now fail building for x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu, but it will still succeed x86_64-apple-darwin. If the docs simply shows the x86_64-apple-darwin part, then I'd say this is a non-issue.
