Ideal Solcast configuration

Been zooming in my solcast configuration and documentation, but now I wonder what is the ideal configuration for PB ?

Its entirely personal choice.

I do a combination of the two, I have an automation to pull forecasts at 1am so that I have the best forecast for overnight charging, and I leave Solcast to do polling between sunrise and sunset to give me more accurate forecasts during the day. I thus set my API limit to 6 in the integration (as I use solcast auto dampening which needs 2 API calls to get estimated actuals)
But its only a forecast.

Use the PB native Solcast integration?

Predbat polls regularly every X hours. I think there are a number of areas where Solcast integration is superior, auto retries for 429 errors, auto-dampening, etc, but Predbat direct is simpler for new users to setup.

As above - personally I set up the solcast integration rather doing it in predbat, since that means that you can use it elsewhere, and it has strong error handling, Whether you want to use your own automation vs solcast's automation mainly depends on whether you want a fresh solar forecast just before the cheap overnight charging period. I do, so I wrote my own, based on the example in the solcast github documentation. If you don't, then just let solcast do it.
