ytm15 no longer works - home or searching or videos (April 9 00:00 UTC)

This may be similar to #70 but I'm not sure, so I am writing here.

YTM15 suddenly stopped working on Monday evening (April 8th), home or searching or videos. Now it always says "there was an error connecting to the server." The sudden change was probably tied to the April 9 00:00 UTC demarcation. It does not matter the device (computer or phone) or profile (whether signed in or not) or network. I tried the following:

1. Switching devices,
2. Switching profiles,
3. Changing networks,
4. Changing instances by entering URLs in the APP_CUSTOM_INVIDIOUS_URL box or using the API method in the console (Developer Tools),
5. Trying Invidious instances themselves (they do work occasionally),
6. Going to YTM15 Mod.

When changing custom instance, it said something like "cannot connect" with a refresh button on Monday night, but now it falls back to "there was an error connecting to the server."

Console logs say getHomeData2.onerror and Failed to load resource: net::ERR_FAILED and error numbers 429 and 403 (Forbidden).

Mod only loaded the home page, only the home page videos may be watched, and the YouTube embed player must be used to watch those videos (otherwise it says "undefined, sorry about that..."). Even the Mod home page only fetches 0 views/0 seconds ago and raw time in seconds (1539 instead of 25:39) or none at all. Screenshot:

I really enjoy(ed) YTM15, so I sincerely hope there could be ways to bring it back. Very kindly appreciated. (Or reasons it suddenly fails now.)

Update: YTM15 works now, barely. Situationally it fetches search and video pages, even load a video or two. Perhaps their API's are able to squeeze through now, this may be related to what @legoskid said in #54 (fascinating Invidious wants to stop scraping although itself scrapes YouTube). Screenshot:

Still curious to know why this outage, and/or are there are possible fixes? Again, very kindly appreciated, I love this YTM15.

Update: YTM15 works now, barely. Situationally it fetches search and video pages, even load a video or two. Perhaps their API's are able to squeeze through now, this may be related to what @legoskid said in #54 (fascinating Invidious wants to stop scraping although itself scrapes YouTube). This wasn't related to Invidious or #70 at all. Also most Invidious websites don't block scrapers because they're hypocrites they block scrapers because once it's put up on the instance list, it immediately gets hammered with thousands of requests (usually to get the videos, API or not) and overwhelm the site's bandwidth of scraper usage vs. real people. Basically a ddos if you want to say it that way as iv-org/documentation#673 | comment link #1 says. Also YouTube's crackdown of invidious in 2025 contributes as well, iv-org/documentation#625 | comment link #2

Most videos not loading should be fixed in #60 ..

The real problem was @Yacine-Book 's subscription to RapidAPI (the main service)'s YouTube API expired(?) causing everything to go broke, and here's that conversation: #60 (comment)

The RapidAPI I use actually still works. I've tested it and there doesn't seem to be much wrong. Some stuff probably don't work because of how the Invidious API is configured (or some stuff not being supported by it anymore, like the home feed), or maybe the one used by this one currently doesn't work

@legoskid Thanks very much for your kindly details of this situation. Very humbly, it's easier for you to know exactly what's going on than I do :).

I believe the Invidious crackdown was happening over a long period of time (at least since 2024), so it should not be related? Perhaps @Yacine-Book old subscription expired recently (then renewed), as you noted?
