🔧 Installation & Setup

Prerequisites

• Node.js (v16 or higher)
• Java 17 or higher
• Maven 3.6+
• Chrome Browser
• Gemini AI API Key

Backend Setup

1. Clone the repository

   git clone https://github.com/CodeTirtho97/SmartReply
   cd SmartReply+/email-writer-sb

2. Configure environment variables

    # application.properties
    gemini.api.key=YOUR_GEMINI_API_KEY
    server.port=8080
    spring.application.name=SmartReplyPlus

3. Build and run

    mvn clean install
    mvn spring-boot:run

Frontend Setup

1. Navigate to frontend directory

    cd ../frontend

2. Install dependencies

    npm install

3. Configure environment

    # .env
    VITE_API_BASE_URL=http://localhost:8080/api
    VITE_API_TIMEOUT=30000

4. Start development server

    npm run dev

Chrome Extension Setup

1. Build extension files

    # From project root
    cd chrome-extension

2. Load extension in Chrome

- Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions/.
- Enable "Developer mode".
- Click "Load unpacked".
- Select the chrome-extension folder.

3. Configure extension

- Click the SmartReply+ icon in Chrome toolbar.
- Enter your settings in the popup.
- Grant necessary permissions for Gmail access.
