MakerHunt

Where early adopters discover the next wave of AI and indie products.

Visit makerhunt.io · Pricing · Submit your project · FAQ on site

What MakerHunt is

MakerHunt is a weekly launch platform for AI projects, tools, and digital products. Every week, a new batch of products goes live together on the homepage, competes for votes for seven days, and earns lasting visibility in a searchable directory and Hall of Fame.

You are not buying a one-day spike in a noisy feed—you are getting a timed launch moment, community voting, recognition for winners, and a permanent listing that keeps sending discovery and SEO value after the week ends.

Who it is for

Founders & makers — You want a credible place to announce your product, collect votes, earn badges, and strengthen how people find you online (traffic + links + long-form coverage).

Early adopters & hunters — You want a curated stream of new launches every week, clear categories, and a simple way to support products you believe in.

Pricing at a glance

Free launch — full detail

Price: $0

Best for: New projects, tight budgets, and teams happy to point a MakerHunt link from their own site.

What you get

  • Homepage feature for the full competition week (~7 days, aligned with the weekly schedule below).
  • Weekly competition entry — votes, ranking, and eligibility for top-3 recognition.
  • Nofollow links from MakerHunt by default (traffic and brand visibility; standard SEO treatment).
  • If you finish #1, #2, or #3: winner badge, Hall of Fame placement, and dofollow treatment on MakerHunt links for Free launches (SEO upgrade for winners).
  • Launch blog post about your project on MakerHunt (SEO-oriented coverage on the platform).
  • Standard review queue (typically 24–48 hours after submission).

Requirement

  • Before you can be scheduled, you add any link to makerhunt.io on your website (footer, about page, or simple text link is fine—we verify automatically).

Weekly slots

  • Free launches share the weekly pool with Nofollow: 15 total slots per week for Free + Nofollow combined.

Nofollow launch — full detail

Price: $0

Best for: Teams that cannot or prefer not to place a badge/link back to MakerHunt, but still want the weekly stage and story.

What you get

  • Homepage feature for the full competition week.
  • Weekly competition entry and winner badges + Hall of Fame if you place top 3.
  • Launch blog post about your project.
  • No badge or backlink requirement on your site.
  • Standard review queue (typically 24–48 hours).

Important distinction

  • Links from MakerHunt stay nofollow even if you win. You still get badges, fame, and traffic—just not the dofollow SEO upgrade on links.

Weekly slots

  • Counts toward the same 15 Free + Nofollow slots per week.

Premium launch — full detail

Price: $19 USD, one-time per Premium launch (not a subscription).

Best for: Serious launches, SEO-focused teams, and anyone who wants maximum visibility and guaranteed strong links without a badge requirement.

What you get

  • Homepage feature for the full competition week (main weekly feed).
  • Guaranteed dofollow backlinks from MakerHunt immediately—no need to win first (subject to normal listing surfaces: project page, browse, related projects, etc.).
  • No badge requirement on your website.
  • Launch blog post about your project, with dofollow treatment for your website inside that post where applicable (other external links handled for a healthy SEO profile).
  • SEO- and GEO-oriented project page and launch post (structured, discoverable content).
  • Homepage left-sidebar spotlight (desktop) while your launch is live in the competition—your name, logo, and a direct link to your site. This appears during the ongoing week (roughly up to 7 days after go-live), not while you are only scheduled for a future week, and not after the week has ended.
  • Social promotion on X and LinkedIn for Premium launches (amplified distribution beyond the feed).
  • Priority review (typically 12–24 hours).
  • Skip the standard queue — priority scheduling so you can secure your launch week ahead of the free/nofollow queue.
  • Premium badge on-platform for credibility.
  • Priority support and feedback channel.
  • Unlimited weekly slots — Premium does not count toward the 15 Free/Nofollow cap, so you can secure busy weeks more reliably.

Payment (what to expect)

  • You complete checkout during submission; major cards are supported through our secure payment flow. If payment fails, your submission is saved as a draft so you can resume from your dashboard.

Refunds (summary)

  • Premium is generally non-refundable; exceptions may apply for clear platform errors, non-delivery within stated windows, duplicate charges, or cancellation before processing—see Terms and email hi@makerhunt.io with context.

Side-by-side: why pick which plan?

  • Choose Free if $0 is right and you can add a MakerHunt link on your site; you can still earn dofollow by placing top 3.
  • Choose Nofollow if you need zero obligation to link back; you accept nofollow forever, including as a winner.
  • Choose Premium if you want dofollow now, sidebar spotlight while live, faster review, unlimited slotting, social promotion, and the full Premium story without a badge step.

How the weekly competition works

  • Start: Every Monday, 8:00 AM UTC — all projects scheduled for that week go live together.
  • End: The following Monday, 7:59 AM UTC — voting for that window closes.
  • Duration: 7 days of discovery and voting on the homepage and project pages.
  • Winners: The top 3 vote counts win #1, #2, #3. Ties are broken by earlier submission time where applicable.
  • Who can vote: Registered users; you are encouraged to share your launch and rally real supporters.

Slots

  • Up to 15 projects per week from Free + Nofollow combined.
  • Premium launches are unlimited and do not consume those 15 slots.

What winners receive

All top-3 winners (every launch type)

  • Winner badge and assets you can use on your own site.
  • Hall of Fame visibility.
  • Email with results and next steps.

Free and Premium winners (top 3)

  • Dofollow treatment on MakerHunt links (SEO authority passed to your site in addition to traffic).

Nofollow winners (top 3)

  • Badges and fame as above; links remain nofollow per plan rules.

Nofollow vs dofollow (plain language)

  • Nofollow — Great for traffic and brand; search engines treat the link as a normal referral, not a vote of SEO authority.
  • Dofollow — Also drives traffic, and can strengthen how search engines interpret authority to your domain.

Premium: dofollow from the start. Free: nofollow until you win top 3 (then upgraded for those links). Nofollow plan: always nofollow.

Premium relaunch

If your project completed a full week without finishing in the top 3, you may be eligible for a one-time Premium relaunch for $19.

  • Found under Dashboard → Relaunch when eligible.
  • Relaunch is always Premium: dofollow for that project on MakerHunt, sidebar while live, votes preserved, new week you choose.
  • One relaunch per project, only after a non-winning completed week.

Submission & timeline

Typical flow

  1. Create an account and open Submit.
  2. Paste your website URL—optional AI autofill can draft name, description, imagery, and categories from your site (you can edit everything).
  3. Complete product story, media, categories (1–3), and launch week.
  4. Pick Free, Nofollow, or Premium and finish plan-specific steps (badge verification or payment).
  5. Wait for review, then get scheduled for your Monday go-live.

Review speed

  • Free & Nofollow: often 24–48 hours.
  • Premium: often 12–24 hours (priority).

After launch

  • Your project stays on MakerHunt—directory, SEO pages, and links (per plan) continue to work after the competition ends.

What you can and cannot change later

  • Before scheduling: You can often switch launch type (e.g. from an unpaid Premium draft to Free/Nofollow).
  • After approval and scheduling: Launch type is locked so the week stays fair.
  • While scheduled (not yet live): You can usually edit descriptions, categories, screenshots, etc.
  • Website URL is locked after submission for integrity (new domain → generally a new submission; edge cases via support).

Discovery beyond the homepage

Users can find you through search, categories, filters, project pages, related products, launch stories, and Hall of Fame—your week on the homepage is the spike; the platform is the long tail.

Policies in brief

  • Who can submit: Legitimate AI or digital products with a working site and accurate positioning; we review everything.
  • Multiple projects: Allowed—each needs a unique URL and its own review.
  • Rejected submissions: You get a reason and can usually fix and resubmit; contact support if unclear.
