I like it since I think the outline is effectively part of unit aesthetics rather than UI (so should stay enabled for screenshots etc) but it's for @GoogleFrog to decide.

I think this depends on how the new aesthetics of the CUS update pan out. My dream is to disable the outline shader by default, but the contrast of maps and units is insufficient to support such a change. |

An alternative solution would be to remove the option entirely (PR here #5615).
