I think this is quite a tricky GSOC.

The medium objective doesn't require writing a lot of code, but it requires interacting with several different code bases which makes it challenging. Do you suggest we should make the medium target be the large target directly and remove the fallback integration in POI as target ?

I’m a prospective GSoC 2026 contributor exploring JuMP projects and following this discussion to understand the intended scope.

The medium objective seems challenging primarily due to cross–codebase coordination rather than code volume. Making it align directly with the large target could simplify expectations and reduce ambiguity.

Any guidance on how first-time contributors should prepare for this kind of integration-heavy project would be very helpful.
