This would be great to have merged. Would love to use the verified MS extension instead of installing a random 3rd-party version just for this function. |

this would be a create feature to have, please add! 🙏 |

Here is an install script for the PR since there are no maintainers: mkdir -p vscw
git clone https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-wordcount.git vscw/ext
git -C vscw/ext fetch origin refs/pull/25/head:pr25
git -C vscw/ext checkout 8405b8cf0148067244ec13c8d8f340b401949080
# Rationale for edit: this old commit needs a missing import for modern packaging.
sed -i '' "s|import {window, workspace, commands, Disposable, ExtensionContext, StatusBarAlignment, StatusBarItem, TextDocument} from 'vscode';|import {window, workspace, commands, Disposable, ExtensionContext, StatusBarAlignment, StatusBarItem, TextDocument, Selection} from 'vscode';|" vscw/ext/extension.ts
npm install --prefix vscw/ext
(cd vscw/ext && npx --yes @vscode/vsce package)
code --install-extension vscw/ext/wordcount-0.1.0.vsix --forceTested on Visual Studio Code 1.117 Warning: this script is LLM-generated and should be verified before running. |

Figured this could do with a count of words selected with the mouse cursor. Only works across one selected area. Room for improvement perhaps.
